I am interested if you have a map / list of “wired” places in America? Where is the best high speed internet connection, WiFi, hotspots, meeting places with internet access, data traffic through mobile phones, etc.
Where is the ideal place for distance work?
My questions come after reading Rich Karlgaard’s book, Life 2.0: How People Across America Are Transforming Their Lives by Finding the Where of Their Happiness.

There is a lot to your question, Martin. I think it’s going to be hard to answer completely. Personally, I’ve never seen a single map that answers all your questions. I did a little research and found Forbes’ “America’s Most Wired Cities” article (http://www.forbes.com/2009/01/22/wired-cities-2009-tech-wire-cx_ew_0122wiredcities.html), which might help you a little bit. To narrow your own research, you might want to pick some cities and then start researching your questions. For example, if you want to know about the Wi-Fi hotspots in Minneapolis and Kansas City, you could start searches for coffee shops, libraries, etc. in those cities and the surrounding suburbs. Then, you could find out if those spots have the type of access you are interested in. Good luck in your research!
Another place to do some research would be the official government web sites for those cities you are interested in. There may not be much info on some such web sites, but those cities that offer public Wi-Fi or are interested in bringing young people to their streets will brag about their options.
